Angelfish Dilemma

No, I haven't found a good cure. I have these fizzing tablets called Jungle Ick remover or something like that but last time I tried those it killed all my fish, I think my aquarium is too small for the tablets...One more question, is it true that once a fish gets Ick and survives they are immune to the disease?

Oh, I don't know about that immune thing at all. If I had to guess, though, I'd think that isn't true. I think I recall some folks having repeat infections...


Well, you could do a search on this forum to find the right medicine for Ich.


I just looked at some Coppersafe (brand Mardel) I have stashed away and it says it treats Ich. I'd try this if I were you. Use it according to the size of your tank. Also, raise the temp of your aquarium a few degrees at a time and add salt. Try this and see if this helps your babies.

From what I know about Ich (again, I've never had it) it can only be killed when the cysts are free swimming. As long as they are attached to the fish, it cannot be killed. So, I think, raising the temp is what makes the Ich grow quicker and leave the fish's body. THAT is when your meds and salt will work to kill it.


So, again, raise the temp slowly, add Coppersafe (or whatever med) and add salt.
