I have a Blushing Angelfish for a good month now....Im concerned it's unwell...but I don't really know what angelfish act like.

Anyone who owns angelfish can you tell me what yours do please.

Nevermore

What makes you think this fish is unwell? Healthy angels are generally mid level swimmers, though they will nose around all areas of the tank. A healthy angel eats like a pig, once it is accustomed to it's surroundings it will recognize where the food comes from, and be real happy to see that person near the tank.

If the angel is acting stressed it could be from the nipping ram. Add some taller plants for a little hiding area. I would add a couple more albino corys as well, they prefer to be in groups.

well My angelfish is Floating about just below the water line (however not gasping just floating about) and it is very timid when feeding time comes it goes up to the food but seems afraid to grab it....I do have 4 platies that zoom about and grab it instantly.

the angelfish does go mid-level occasionally but it seems to hang around a filter or a corner alot....it also seems to swim sidways and backwards more then forwards...

What are you feeding, what's the tank temperature, and how big is the angel?

Im feeding it flakes that came with the tank but also have cichlid pelletes but they float down so quick it never goes for them....the tank temperature is 25 celcius and the size is about

the size of those lines combined....

actually a little smaller.....

My filter seems to be to powerful for it to swim in a left to right direction at times but it keeps going over to the filter along with my 4 schooling platies and a ram who has schooled with the platies briefly......they keep swimming to the corner fighting the flow from the filter to get to it....would it be them having fun with the stream or something else

That's a little cool for angels, I keep my tanks at 27-28C if there are corys or plecs with them, 30C for angels only. They will act a little lethargic at cooler temps, and tend to eat less due to their metabolism slowing.

A diet of only flakes isn't good for angels, feed some frozen brine shrimp a few times a week, and a small amount of bloodworms once weekly. Bloodworms do tend to constipate fish if fed too frequently. Corys love bloodworms, it's a good conditionong food for breeders.

Fish do tend to like to play in the flow from filters now & then, it's nothing to be concerned with, just fish being fish. :)

yeah I do need some live food or similiar

so a harder flowing filter that perhaps is strong for the fish to swim with will be ok? the majority of the tank isn't that bad its just about mid level and to the right that its bad...

and my tank has platies rams corys kuhlii loaches and an angelfish...so the temp around 27-28 would be ok for those fish?

I've kept platys, corys, & dojo loachs at that temp with angels, they do fine, I don't see the rams having a problem with it. As long as there is a calmer area for the fish to get away from the water flow they will be ok with it. I have breeding & growout tanks with multiple filters, if they get tired of the flow, they move.
