HI, i was wondering if anyone could help me with my question which is..... Can i keep angelfish and blue rams in the same tank without any problems?? Any reply would be much appreciated! Thanks :good:

What size tank? Shouldn't be a problem with a big enough tank.

i'm thinking in the realms of 150 litres, maybe a bit bigger?? What do you think, i mean i wouldn't get ridiculous numbers of either fish!

150L should be okay, but aim to get one 18" tall - angels need a bit of height to their tanks due to their shape.

Oooh, while i have your attention..... Do you know of any suitable tank mates for both of these fish in that size tank?? Thanks again, Alex!! :good:

A nice schooling fish such as Harlequin Rasbora's and a collection of hatchet fish. I asked a similar question and these were the results i liked the best. Also Congo Tetra's were mentioned. Avoid Barbs and some Tetra species as they are known to nip the fins of the Angels. Also stay away from smaller tetra's such as neon, cardinal, rummy nose etc as they will become food for the Angels when they're fully grown!

Cheers.

Go for species which will be capable of handling the higher temperatures the Blue Rams require.

I currently have both these species in a 180 litre, with no probs

I've never worried about temp too much with GBR's - I've generally kept them in tanks around 24 degrees. Some other tank mates to consider - pentazona barbs (much more mild than other barbs) and praecox rainbow fish - beautiful dither fish when they've settled in. I'd also thing about some corys for the bottom - personally I love panda corys, but most flavours would be fine. A school of 6 minimum would add some depth.

Oh, and I agree on the hatchets. Most schooling fish tend to stick around the middle of the tank - the hatchets actually stay right at the top which means you've got movement all across the tank.

The neon dwarf rainbows (praecox) is absolutely brilliant mate, i seen these at my local pets at home yesterday and was very very VERY tempted. I resisted though, but now i wish i hadn't!

Just out of interest, what is the recommended group size for these?
