I have been thinking about a potential stocking for a new tank, it will only be another 33 gallon but i want to have a couple of decent sized fish rather than a lot of small ones

Can angelfish and rams live together? I was thinking about having 2 angels and 3 rams?

To my knowledge no problem with angels and rams, however, I would only go for 2 rams, as with 3, you may end up with a pair and the odd one out will be bullied by the pair.

Angels will obviously need a tank with a height of 18" I believe.

ok just did some measuring of my own with a tape measure

its 32 inches long
19 tall, and would be about 15 inches from substrate to surface
and 14 deep

truckasauras its the same tank you have an empty Rio 125 at the moment

would that be too small for 2 angels?

also could keyholes be kept with rams and angels?

Its ok for them, maybe lower the substrate as they grow.

I wouldnt add more than either the angels and rams, or rams and keyholes, or keyholes and angels, its not a huge tank and three different cichlids is pushing your luck.

Personally if it was me, Id go with the keyholes and rams, lovely fish, but then I dont like Angels

Rams and angels are fine together, I have mine together and they do not bother each other at all. When in breeding condition this may change a little and you should have a seperate tank just in case or a way of dividing the tank. They may just stay out of each others way, you never know.

Really 18" is the minimum height, you will probably need to lower that substrate. My tank is 23" deep and I only have 1" substrate, it is surprising how tall these fish become.
