i have 5 angels in a 75 gallon tank and they 2 of them dont seem to be growing
one has almost doubled its size since i bought it a couple of months ago and 2 more are not far behind but 2 just arn't growing
they all get fed bloodworm and brine shrimp ones a week and flakes the rest and they all eat.
there is no bullying going on and i dont no ...
any help???

i'll be intrested in reading any replies as i have this problem. bought an angel nearly a year ago and he's hardly grown, yet one i bought two months after him is roughly three times as big as the first now (though he was smaller than the first when i got him!!)

gona sound like an idiot different strains???
if that is where they are different parents then yes i have 2 koi 1 black 1 striped and one black marbled all from different tanks at the lfs and i am sure they are all getting fed enough

I had this same problem, one of my Angels has grown massively, and the fella I bought to join him a few weeks later never grew at all, only stayed at about 1", it ate well, was fine, then I noticed he was hiding at the back of the tank, couldn't see anything wrong with him, I noticed he only took food if it came right in front of him. Then sadly he passed away yesterday. I just wonder if he was being bullied by other fish, but it was strange he never grew at all.

Will be interesting to see if other people have an idea why some grow and some dont!

P

Watch out for aggressive behaviour, as fish who are bien gbullied tend to stay small and dont flourish. However, some fish just don't grow as large, or as fast! :good:

I have the same with one of mine. I'm half suspecting it could be a patasite too as it often has stringy poo.

Different coloration. There probably lies your problem. Different strains grow at different rates from my experience, and I have heard others share similar experiences. If it isn't that, then it's being caused by the hierarchy and your fish not growing is at the bottom and eating less then the rest. Commonly referred to as the "runt" (with Discus anyways.)

among all my angel spawns, there's always a group that never gets big. the rest would double or triple their sizes. but apart from that they're all healthy and eating so it isn't something to worry about.

as long as you don't see the eyes getting big while the body stays the same, its fine.

I'm currently waiting to see if it gets any worse, Wilders the person to ask about fish meds, as I haven't had to treat for internal parasites before. I don't buy the different strains thing myself, My small one is one of my two white ones, identical to look at, but one's almost half the size of the other. Was the same with my two striped before the smaller of the two died.

Depends.

You would probably want a good broad kill spectrum dewormer. Metro might help clear it up but different stringy poo can mean different parasites, you should probably identify what parasite your fish have before you put them on any medication.

You could always try a couple week course of garlic puree soaked with the food you are giving them, and loads of water changes. For more minor parasitic disease this would be the least stressful way to combat it.

Second the garlic, it seems it is as good for fish as it is for humans :good: Tolak is really the person to ask here ;) Maby send him a PM, he sure knows his stuff when it comes to angels!
