my black angel hasn`t been eating right for over a month now and i`ve just noticed she has white stringy poo.

the Mrs tells me that this is a sign of internal paracites

the water perameters are perfect, nothing new has gone into the tank in a while

wilder i need your help!!!

Metronidazole or dimetrodazole works best, unfortunately it isn't available in the UK without a prescription from a vet. I've had great success with metro & angels, if you can get some I'll post the entire procedure for dosing, etc.

are there any off the shelf remidys as every one i know who`s been to the vets asking for anything to do with fish has just been looked at weird or laughed at

What make you think its internal parasites, if she not eating not good, and that could account for the long stringy white poo.

as i said the missus said they were both a sign of parasites,

the angel dosent look hollow bellied at all, yet for the past few weeks i havent seen her eat.

she has no obvious marking on her, no sores, or spots ect, no torn fins, the only mark i noticed on her was a missing scale a couple of days ago, i assumed she`d had a tiff with one of the other angels

Not eating, and white stringy feces is 2 out of 3 for internal protizoans. The third would be hiding in the back or in a corner. If it was my fish it would get a quar tank with metro & the heat kicked up to 90F.

The unavailability of aquatic related meds in the UK really is a shame, I really don't understand the reasoning behind that sort of thing. :/

yep its always hiding aswell, unfortunatly i have no quarantine tank.

what off the shelf meds will be safe to use in the community tank

generaly a mix of tetra prima, catfish pelets (the angels always grab some on the way to the bottom for the corrys), flake and frozen foods normaly with one fast day every week

Try some shelled peas to see if that clears the stringy poo up, more varied diet in frozen foods, daphnia is good for digesting the food, and some veg in there diet.

the frozen food is fairly varied with every thing from "vegi mix" through to the standard blood worm, daphnia aswell. will try the peas and see how that goes,

the major problem is the tank is at my mum and dads house as i`m in the process of moving in with the gf and havent had the opertunity to bring it over yet

but what would you use to treat for internal paracites so i can get it in just in case

The only thing that works on internal parasites and its very hard to get hold of is levimsole, plus they can get bacteria infections on top as the parasite does alot of damage inside the fish, so even when you use the med it can be to late.

I've treated at least a dozen angels with those symptoms, I've lost 2, and they were less than dime body size. I've also treated a 1" oscar, who is now a 7" eating machine. First, read this; http://ukdiscus.com/spironucleus.htm

Call a reliable vet, and get some metro. It works really well. :)
