My angelfish just ate a half-dead neon I bought from a bad store like half an hour ago. The angel is losing a bit of color and is breathing a bit heavily. Is it gonna die?

Neons are food for angels in the wild, so eating a neon is just a natural thing to angels. If the neon was ill, or you didn't quar the neons and just added them it may be a problem.

Yes, if the neon was half dead coming from the lfs then it most likely had an illness, possibly an internal fingus if no outward signs were present of any other illness. Increase the airation of your tank with some air stones or a powerhead directed toward the surface to help the angel breathe and do a waterchange every day until you start seeing things get better. Post in the emergency section some more details ASAP about the fish and I'm sure someone will know exactly whats going on if your angel did come down with an illness. good luck :good:

The angel seems fine now. The neon was swimming oddly and falling to the botom, when it attracted the angel. I think the neon was physicaly hurt, because I noticed that they treat the fish a bit roughly at the store, when they are being caught. I had another neon that wasnt too good at swimming and my glodenwonder killies, being the saveges of my tank gave it a good bite to the side and shut it up.

I was thinking if I made it a routine part of adult angel diets to eat (healthy and somewhat small) neons...would it be healthy?

You would have to set up an Neon tank. Feed them diffrent foods, like flake, pellet, frozen and live. I have heard that a lot of them times, the fish is only as good as the food. I guess the saying "you are what you eat" really does come into play on this one
