Hello,
ive had an angel for over six months and it was one of a breeding pair. Its a male and since the female has died (about 3 months ago) he has been swimming in circles.he has since paired up with another female and bred successfully but now he is swimming in in circles even more (tighter circles) and upside down.i no the upside down part could be swim bladder but why has he been swimming in circles?
many thanks

think its got swim bladder as its floating and cant stay down in the water.i dont think it is whirling diseaseas its more of a controlled circle,he use to do it around the breeding pot.to be fair it looks like its lost the plot.the water seems fine and we use treated water all the time.

Lots of diseases can cause problems with balance; and saying 'swim bladder' is just like saying a human's got 'stomach ache'; it's just a symptom. not a disease itself; ther must be someting causing the swim bladder problems.

I think I'd be inclined to give him a course of Myxazin and see how he is after that; it could be an internal bacterial infection that's affecting the fish's swim bladder or balance.

went to pets at home on monday night to get some of the Myxazin but they didnt have any so got what i thought would be the next best thing which was melafix.used it once a day, monday, tuesday and today but its still not getting any better.used aquarium salt as well but seems to be getting weaker.its also got a blotted body.havnt got the heart to help it on its way, really weird bout stuff like that.

Melafix is just tea tree oil and won't do much for a disease once it's taken hold. You need to get something for internal bacterial infections.
