I love angel fish. I think they are so pretty. My question is what types of fish can go with them? Im talking about the small angels. I currently have 4 mollies....
Thanks :D

hi mariah
i have 2 angel fish with 2 mollies 1 dwarf gourami 5 black neon tetra 2 corys and i have no probs they all get along fine :D

What size tank? Even small angels should be in a big tank (at least 10 gallons per angel and at least 18" high) unless you have plans to move them to a larger tank at a later date. Angels, while good community fish, are still cichlids and can become very territorial.

PARKER313 - I have a 10 gal tank... I really want them. I have a 50 gal in another room so I could always move them if there was a problem.

SUPERBEES - What size tank do you have your angels in?

A 10 gallon is not a good size, even for the little angels. They really need more room than that in order to be able to grow properly. Please don't put angels in the 10 gallon...

What else is in the 50 gallon?

hi mariah
my tank is 32 inches long 18 inches tall 14 inches deep it is 29 uk gallons which is about 35 us gallons and my angels are only small at moment i no they will get a lot bigger but i think tank size is ok as tank is quite deep as angel prefer taller tank as they grow quite tall and there fins get quite long :D

Hi..I agree with Parker. I have 2 angels in a 46 gallon. They do need the room. They are very peaceful and get along well in a community tank. They are also smart. SH

Angelfish are halarious! Mine are always doing silly things.

So, 10g is not enough. In the 50g, you could keep 7 or 8 Juvies, but when they are adults a few would have to go. By then, you would probably have a couple of pairs. Keep them and use the 10g for fry :p My LFS buys fry for 10cents each, Angelfish can produce 1000 fry weekly. Not too bad.

My LFS also sells their whole batch within the week! Big Als in Hamilton is #1 ;)

PARKER313 - In the 50 gal theres some neon tetras, a guppy (we have been meaning to get some more guppies....) a chinese alge eater, a pleco and some zebra danios. Would that be suitable for angels? Theres also alot of plants in the tank as well.

What I dont understand is that my friend has 3 angels in a 10 gal tank and shes had them for over a year and there fine. Does it just depend on the angel as to whether they will be ok in a 10 gal? She also had guppies and something else in there as well. I dont remember the name she told me.

Thanks ;)

Just because the angels are "ok" doesn't mean that they are thriving and at their peak health. My lfs was the recipient of 2 angels and a 10" pleco (no kidding) who had been living in a ten gallon. Somehow they managed to get to full size. That doesn't mean that just because it "can" be done, that it "should".

Yes, you can put the angels in the 50 gallon. That would be a much more suitable environment for them :)

Ok I understand about the angels but what does "lfs" mean?
