They are from south America, and the Ph is generally softer and angels would most liklet prefer between 6.0 and 7.0. However most have been adapted to higher Ph and are ok at 7.5 at least for captive bred fish or acclimatized wild caught (from small). Not Altums though they are much more sensitive.

I have 5 wild caught peruvian angels and one remaining captive bred half black, they are in ph 7.4

Best to ask your lfs what water they have been kept in/ acclimiatised to.

You mention six angels? in this thread you spoke of having had four, that one was ill, then another had died mysteriously. Now I see from a recent thread here that another angel has just died (maybe the one you are talking about in this thread?).

Did you identify and treat the "fin rot" that the one angel was suffering before adding new fish?

My maths tell me you now have 5 angels? Four originally (one died, and one was sick) added three more (?) and have since lost one of those?

Just trying to clarify...did the one that recently die have the fin rot? Did you get your own test kit eventually? What are your water parameters? Any other losses other than the two angels?

(sorry about your losses btw)

Im very sorry if i confused any1 but in the last thread when i had 4 angels i bought them from Petco and the all died. I later found out that Petco did not have a quarintine tank n they sold me angels that they just recieved that same day, and i noticed that all of the angels in their tanks had fin rot so i had them refund my money. N the angels i just purchased last monday where all healthy and came from another pet store besides petco. I will try to delete the other thread to keep others from getting confused. But the black marbled angle that just died acted normal until 2 hours ago when it could not controll its movements. My Ph level is at 7.0 or 7.2. Can any1 tell me how to tell if my angels are really healthy or just eating to survive another day or sumthing like that.
Thanks in advance.

If you suspect that your pH is drastically different from the shop you bought it from (which may be true if the shop is far away from where you live) the angels may be suffering from pH shock. There isn't much you can do right now, other than hope for the best.

Alright I tested my water again today and the levels are

PH=7.0-7.2
Ammonia=0 ppm
nitrite=0 ppm
General Hardness=3 drops or 50-100ppm
And the temp of the tank is 78f
I have lost 3 angels already and they all appeared to have a big appetite and swims around normally. What could i be doing wrong? this is really starting to get annoying.

It shouldnt be the casue of your problems, but I'd kick the temp up a little bit more. Between 80-84 seems ideal. But again, I dont think that is your problem. The other water parameters seem perfect to me as well. Not sure what could be happening.....

Alright i really appreciate ur help. do u think my serpae tetras, and bala sharks will appreciate this temp 80-84. And i called a Pro lfs (Bobs Tropicals) n they said that the angels mayb imported angels and could be carrying sum type of disease with them. Im not sure if they are imported or not but if these die also i will purchase theirs because i trust their fish but its a bit more pricy. :( Is $5.95 for a dime size angel to pricy?

Imported angels are rare and quite costly. I'd doubt thats what you have unless you paid $30-40 per juvi fish.

Serpae's should handle 80 or so just fine. No idea about the sharks though.

Alright thanx. appreciate the help

Maybe you are just buying weak stock. Try buying from another LFS.
