I have just finsihed cycling my 5 gallon tank, and i was going to get a betta for it.

But i have just seen a beautiful angel fish in my LFS and i was just wondering is a 5 gallon tank ok for an angel fish, or is it too small? Also are they ok to be on their own?

A 5 gallon tank is way too small for an angel. IMO, you need a 20 Tall as a minimum for a a pair.

A dwarf puffer would be a great addition to a 5g tank.

Ah well, i suspected it might be too small for them. Shame really, it is a very nice looking fish, but if i don't have the facilities, i don't have the facilities.

I was looking at dwarf puffers, but then read that they don't eat dried food, which put me off a bit really, no idea where to get bloodworms etc. from

Your lfs should have a freezer about the place :good:

I would be very suprised if your lfs didn't have bloodworms. To me puffers are a lot more interesting than bettas.

hmmm well i live in the UK, and the nearest fish store (if you can call it that) is pets at home. I can't ever remember there being a freezer near the fish section, but i am going on friday, and will have a look then.

I live in the UK too, Pets at Home isn't just a fish shop. Have a look around and find a shop that covers only fish.

I'm in the UK too. Although I've never been in one, apparently pets at home carry frozen foods.

As Matt says above, you'll be much better off finding a fish only or specialist shop :good:

Believe me i've looked, but i live in the middle of nowhere. My nearest local shop is 5 miles from where i live, with the nearest town 20 miles away, and it doesn't have just a fish store. The nearest place that is likely to have a shop like this is a city called Swansea that is just over 50 miles away from where i live.

So as you can see, it's not exactly a shop i can pop down to once a week.

The frozen food keeps for quite a while so you could buy a couple of packets to keep you going for a while. Or I suggest you move house to Swansea  :D

hmmm, well i was looking on this fish shop finder site, and there is a specialist fish store, in a place that just over 35 miles away. Still a big trek and a 70 mile round journey, but i might go and check it out at least once to see what it's like.

Oh and if you've ever been to Swansea, you'd know why i had have no desire to live there whatsoever >_>
