I remember, with fondess, childhood aqairiums stoked with wonderful looking angel fish. Now that I am about to upgrade my 65l tank to a 180l, I am thinking about the possibility of stocking some angel fish.

But what do they require in terms of ph, gh, light, food, plants, etc.? What fish are they good with and not so good with? For example, I currently have: guppies, clown loach, platys, ghost/glass cat fish.

dont see any problem with putting angels with the fish you have. i even have 3 angels in with 16 neon tetras which are meant to be there natural prey and there still fine.

mine love jus normal fish flakes and then i have cubes of tubliflex to feed them with about twice a week.

as for plants, they spawn on big leaves so amazon swords are a good choice!

im not sure about the technical side with PH and that but if your current fish are fine then the angels will be too!

they are a lovely fish to have. as soon as i enter the room or when i wake up and they see me moving in bed they come over to the front and beg for food.

girlfriend doesnt like them tho cos i used to have 4 but the 4th got bullied to death. dnt kno why cos i added a smaller angel which is where your meant to have problems and he was accepted fine!

oh and there actually american cichlids i think so you want the other cichlid forum, not this one.

pH should be around 7.0 to slightly acidic. Plants should be swords like person above me said, food should be brine shrimp, flakes, bloodwormsetc, they pretty much accept anything. I dont think light matters really, and they'll be ok with your current setup, but they will get aggressive during spawning.

How agressive? Will it, for example, try to destroy my female or male drawrf gorami (which, incidentally, looks exactly like your avatar!)?

Well, there are times that an angel will kill a fish to protect their fry, but thats only if they started to swim over and start eating the babies. Normally, they'll just chase them away, and possibly nip at the fins.

ya thats right my angels dont touch any fihs in my tank wen the spawn i guess thats just b/c thats there territory and the other fish know it and they like low light and some tall plants to hide behind in a corner maybe valls and lots of swimming space how many gallons is a 180l
