we have two angel fish which are about 3.5 in diameter bodies - weve had them a year or so

when i got back today one of them is just lying on its side on the sand at the bottom of the tank - it looks fine, no damage or obvious problems other than breathing slightly heavily - the other one is as normal - just looking confused at its mate

the tank is a planted community, 260l, no other fish showing any problems, tested water and nothing is above normal

any ideas anyone?

Does the fish look bloated. no, perfectly normal apart from breathing a little fast
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet. havent seen it go since it , was ill, before that normal.
Can the fish maintain its balance in the water. no, its laying on its side on the bottom of the tank, resting on plants - keeps having a little go at swimming tho. basically looks like its had a seizure or something and is paralised.
Does the fish turn upside down in the water. no, it cant move.
Does the fish look pale or darker in colour. no, its normal pearly white colour.

Not looking good he might not make it.
Can you issolate him.
It could be a bacterial infecton but the med could finish him off faster.

thanks for replying

could move him into a smaller tank that is basically just ticking over with 3 neons in it but im worried that stressing him to move might not be worth it?

Hows the fish now.
Angels and neons don't mix as angels eat neons in the wild.
If he poorly he might not bother them.

Thanks for the replies - unfortunately he didnt make it - i decided not to move him but the next morning he had gone so still a mystery as to what caused it.
