Hello Everyone!

I Just got an Angel Fish the other day, Now this is my first time owning an Angel Fish and dont know too much about them.

I got him at Pet Smart, and The guy that works there said that if I get an angel fish I should keep him tanked with other fish that are aggressive like him. Well we also got some Danios and Tiger barbs and boy I really am not diggin how mean these danios are. My poor Angel Fish hide behind the filter all the time because all they do is pick on him. Now here is my problem,
It doesnt look like my Angel is doing good, I havent seen him eating and now he is just being tossed around by the current and swimming slowly upside down. I just switched him to my 10 gallon tank, ( There is less going on in there and the fish in there aren't as agressive )

Im lost and dont know what to do!

Please I am new to this so if I am doing something wrong please be kind, Im still learning. Another reason why I am here, to learn.

What conditions do the tank need to be in for Angel Fish to thrive?

What Food should they be eating? ( Maybe He isnt eating because its not the right food )

Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated!

Angelfish need a tank size of around 30 gallons in my opinion and the tank must be tall to accomodate their long fins.
I fed mine on live food such as bloodworm and daphnia as well as tradition flake food.

Due to the shape of the angelfish they can sometimes have difficulty swiming in strong current, and he may be weakened by the bullying by the danios and tiger barbs, both of which i have found to be nippy and quite aggressive. The angelfish did not necessarily need to be housed with aggressive fish rather kept away from any kind of fish that it would eat (neons/small tetras etc) and i have not had problems with angels in community tanks.

How big is your tank?
How old is your tank, do you have any readings for the water that could help people establish whether its a problem with the tank or the stocking?

My tank is 29 Gallons. My tank is about two weeks old. I only have a PH kit, I tested the PH about a week ago and It said 7.8 but it also says that it could be higher because the test only goes up to 7.8. I also tested to water for my other tank that has been up and running for almost 2 years, and it had the same result. So I assumed that the ph is fine considering the fish in my other tank are thriving. I live in a small town and we have no fish stores, so I get my supplies at walmart. Other wise I have to drive an hour away to pet smart or petco. I looked for a test kit that was for everything while at pet smart but could not find one.

Has the 29 gallon tanks cycled.
Adding to many fish to soon when cycled can also cause a mini cycle.

How long did you climatise the fish for,
Swimming upside down can be ph shock, the fish is dying, swim bladder, bacterial infection.
Can he maintain his balance in the water. Does he look bloated.

Whats the water stats of the ammo/nitrite !
Whats the temp of your tank
What filtration you using
is it fish only tank!

Is it a pair of angles or only one? Should always get them in pairs if possible they live a better life! Dianos and tiger barbs I would say are not suitable mates for them! Fish store told you wrong on putting aggressive fish with them. Just remember for every 10gal per aggressor is needed for running room also looking at the adult size of them. So looking to mix aggresors you would need a big tank, they require running room! Tetris are okay but the temp i find a little harsh on tetris don't get me wrong i have tetris in with discuss but some will die off due to the heat usually if not picked on from the angles themselves.
(I don't know if you have ever had the oportunity to actually see a breeding pair go at it but I have, they can get very very aggressive and the next minute get along with any fish)

Okay questions about the poor angle
Any Scale damage?
Was acclimation done? If not probably suffering from PH shock! (Once they are established in the tank you will find they are pretty hardy)
How big is the fish?
How tall is the tank? ~ They require tall tanks if at all possible due to there finage, my breeding pair i had was over 12-14" from top fin to bottom fin!(I rehomed mine for a good price and so they could grow even bigger and I have a 55gal!)
You mentioned about qaurtining the fish seperate ~ Is it still acting this way?
Any cloudness in eyes,
A picture might help!
