Hi all
Can someone help me, I have had my angel fish for a year now and last night i found it face down in the gravel looking rather ill. It has not moved around much since then and the one instance I have seen him swim it looked like he was having trouble balancing and swimming on his side. Also he looks bloated. Does anyone know if this is an illness or whether it is the fish just coming to the end of its life.

Thanks

Happy new year :D

Hi grayt and welcome to the forum. :hi:

It almost sounds like a swim bladder problem (or maybe constipation) but I'm no expert on diseases. I would suggest you PM a moderator (names in blue on the bottom of the main forums page) and have them move this to the Emergency section. You will get more replies there.

Results of water tests would be helpful. What have you been feeding this angel? Sounds like it could be bloat.

If it were one of my angels, and water test results were acceptable, I would treat with epsom salt. Start with 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons of water, increase by one teaspoon per 10 gallons daily to 3 teaspoons per 10 gallons. This relieves constipation, and often times helps with swim bladder problems.

Epsom salt is not aquarium salt or table salt, it can be found in most drug stores.
