How would two angelfish go in a 20 gallon tank with lots of plants? Basically only anarcharis and another plants that I'm not sure what is called but is basically the same as anarcharis, just different shaped leaves.

And yes....i know 20 gallons will make it a bit squishy for angelfish, but I'll treat them good to make up for it.

so, how would they go in my tank?

P.scalare and P.leopoldi both get to 7" disc size and P. altum reach 8" disc size; this does not include their fins, which have to be taken into account.
a 36" long by 18" high is the minimum tank recomended for angels.

I agree, this should be the minimum for angels,a 20 gallons is too small to house one. if ur looking for cichlids for ur 20 gallon, may i suggest rams?

Ram info

EDIT: messed up the codes for the quote :X

no, not acording to my freind. he breeds angels. he has one i a 20 gallon tank. he says that is the bear minimum.

I guess your mate knows all there is to know about angels then,
seeing as he is a breeder.

ya, i wish i could go over too his dad's house though, cause that's were he breeds him. and his dad lives like 3 hours away.

psst! :look: opposite... that was sarcasm.

breeding angels isn't that hard; like most cichlids, even a moron can get it right once. and just because breeders can, doesn't mean it should be done. there are a lot of "backyard breeders" who mistreat and exhaust their fish to produce an endless stream of fry. i'd not trust the advice of someone who breeds in the "the bear minimum".

while i'm not positive on the 36" long, if you've ever seen angels kept properly then you'd know just how long and beautiful their fins can get! having seen angels raised in a 24" tall tank, i'd nevereverever keep them in anything under 18". it'd be such a heartbreaker to see those fins constantly torn from being dragged along the gravel :-(

did i said he breeds in the 20 gallon? no i never did, i said he keeps one in a 20 gallon, because it was the worse time, kulling. and there was this one that needed to be kulled, but it looked so cool, he just couldn't kull it. according to him, it's only the size of a 2 year olds palm. he's gonna move it when it's bigger. and i'm sorry, i can't tell if some one is being sarcastic on the internet.

then he's not keeping it in a 20g, now is he? :sly: an adult angel should be kept in nothing shallower than 18".

(and i hate to mention it, but its driving me nuts for some reason... the word is actually spelled "cull" or "culled" )

ok, let me re word this. the angel is in the 20 gallon. he is not full grown. he will be moved when he gets bigger. sorry for the bad wording.
