Wow so I got home tonight and went to say good night to the fish and one of the leaves on my plant looked odd....on closer inspection I had a bazillion eggs and mom sittin over them.....Im excited but I dont know what to do....so here are my basic questions.....First will mom just lay eggs to do it or is my other angel "dad"...Second how will I clean the tank? Sunday is clean-up day for me and the fish but I dont know about changing water and stuff should I or shouldnt I.... Third Ive been battleing some wierd cloudy water for a month (paramaters ok just some algae clould) Lastly it only takes 2-3 days for the fry to hatch right so if they dont ( :( ) will Mom be depressed....

Well I probably should have put this in fish breeding but....it doesnt matter any more all the eggs are gone..... :( I was really hopeing to be a grandpa.....

Domestic Bred Angelfish, which i assume yours is, have often lost their instinct and ability to care properly for eggs and fry due to mass breeding.

If you want to keep the eggs try take them out of the tank without disturbing them too much, and put them in their own tank with water conditions similar to the parents tank

my domestic bred angelfish, ONCE, and only once, did self parenting.

All fish in Australia are top quality Eel ;)

First, when angelfish lays eggs that means of course you got a proven female but that doesn't mean you got a male angelfish as well. As a female all by herself can lay eggs but she needs the male to fertilize the eggs after they are laid. Usually you will see the male go behind her fertilizing as she lays the eggs.

The eggs are first transparent but if they are not fertilized then they will become white and will get eaten. If all your eggs turn white over the next few days then that means your other angelfish may be a female or a to young male right now. Don't worry as the proven female angelfish will keep laying her eggs every 7-10 days. Now if you got a male in the tank then the eggs will turn more of a amber brown and then in 48 hours you will notice little tails sticking out of the eggs. This stage of angelfish is called wigglers. Don't worry you don't got to feed the babies yet as they are still eating their egg yolk.

Now, angelfish can parent raise. Most people don't let their angelfish parent raise because they are anxious, need a large and fast quality (if you let them parent raise they sometimes stop laying eggs for a while) or in the rare case the parents are young and don't realize what to do yet (Most angelfish will grow out of this stage if you give them several tries with their eggs).

I suggest that you start reading up on breeding angelfish and what to do in case you do have a proven pair. There are several angelfish only forums out there that have oodles of information.
