Try barracading the filter intake with some plants, I use silk since I can rinse them in tap water with a litle bleach to clean them up. A breeding trap is for livebearers, it won't work well at all for angels. Many folks hatch angel spawns in anything from a one gallon jar to a 10 gallon tank. You will need some tank space if you are successful, most shops won't take angels smaller than dime size, these fish need 1/2 gallon of tank space each to develop properly. A small spawn is 200 eggs, if you are successful you will lose less than 10%.
Start with meth blue in the hatching container, 5-7 drops per gallon. If you still see fungus on the eggs, add 3 drops per gallon Maroxy. You can also add a drop per 2 gallons acriflavin to the mix, I have to use all 3 with my hard water.
You will need aeration in the hatching tank/jar. On the third day after they have spawned do a 50% water change every day, this is a good time to get a bbs hatchery going. Start feeding on the 7th day, at least 3 times daily, with a daily water change of at least 50%, along with wiping the bottom with a paper towel & siphoning off the excess bbs. The first week is a busy critical week with angel fry, cleanliness is next to Godliness. You need to add a cycled sponge filter on the 7th day as well.
