Hi all

I've posted a couple of times about my angels spawning and eating their eggs etc but this time I have better news! They spawned, fanned a lot more, and now have wrigglers! I noticed the wrigglers on wednesday evening (been keeping a very close eye on them). They are growing and mum and dad are looking after them very well I think.

The girl in my LFS recommended liquifry as starter food and brine shrimp when they're a bit bigger. At the moment I have the shrimp in gel pouch kind in case they get big enought o eat them over the bank holiday (own a scuba diving centre and it's incredibly busy over the bank hols so thought 1. I might be too busy to get live ones and 2. the LFS may not be open when I really need them)

Is this ok? I've read the pinned thread by tolak and I think I'm doing the right stuff.

Thing is, I have had the aquarium lights on for 2 solid days and nights now so they could keep an eye on the wrigglers. Thought it would be a good idea to turn it off for a bit today to 1. rest the lamp etc. and 2 to give them a break. When I turned it off the female gor very aggressive towards the male and only stopped and went back to the wrigglers when I turned the light back on.

Do I leave the light on?

Also, am I right in thinking that I start feed brine shrimp when the wrigglers start to swim?

Really hope some survive, it's really exciting!

I can't move the babies to another tank because I have a goldfish in my spare. He was in the main tank when I bought it (on holiday!) but am now slowly de-climitising him so he can be moved to my parents pond as he was polluting the water in the main tank.

Please help re. the light!

Thanks!

Congratulations... :-
I noticed if I turned the lights off at night there was less fry there the next day.If I kept the lights on there was more..One night when I turned the light off the parents went straight to the eggs and began eating them (well thats what I thought) They wernt eating them they were only moving them, then spitting them out at a safer spot in the tank :look:
I fed mine live baby brine shrimp on day 7 when they were free swimming.. :hyper: I think you might get away with using liquifry for the first few days that they are free swimmers, and then get the baby brine shrimp...
Fingers crossed that some survive..
I think I have asked you before but is it a community tank your angels are in? :)

Well I guess it was more of a community tank before... I had the 2 angels, 3 x ray tetras (not glowlight as I thought before, oops!), one massive goldfish and a chinese algae eater. Now I have lost a tetra to dropsy  and moved goldie to the small tank (which was the hospital tank) to de-climitise him by a degree or 2 every now and then so I can put him in my parents pond as he was polluting the water (we think) and he's just too big for a 3 foot tank. He's a lovely fish though, mega friendly!

So now it's just the angels, 2 tetras and the CAE who get on just fine!

How are your babies doing now? x

Aww your goldfish sounds nice.. :good:

The babies went away a couple of weeks ago to a place called Amazing ponds and gardens..They have a fish/reptile place :good: I was happy to take them there as I go there quite often..The staff are nice and seem clued up on their job.. I went back the other day to see if any had been sold.. They are all still there 23 of them, they have just a tiny bit to grow before they can sell them..They all looked happy and healthy and the water was nice and clear..so I was happy with that :hyper:

Here is one of the last pic I took of my babies...

In return for them they said I could have fish food/equipment.. But I spotted a beautiful betta that I decided to have along with food and gravel for it..So I was pleased at that too...xx

How are the wrigglers getting on today?? :good: x

The wrigglers have glowing eyes and a stripe today! I saw one trying to swim! Mum and dad are still being excellent parents! They are very very attentive!

Bless them!

I tried to take some photos to show you but they're just too titchy and come out blurry! x

They're swimming today! Mum and dad STILL looking after them really well! It's fantastic to watch!

The guy in the LFS didn't have BBS so gave me cyclops instead. He said this would be fine?

Hope so as I don't want to be the cause of any mishaps when mum and dad are doing so well!

Thats good.. Glad to hear they are doing so well.. :good: How many do you reckon you have? Is there loads :hyper: Hope you can get some pics up sometime.. :good:
