Angel And Betta...no No?

Hi there,
Was in my LFS today and saw THE cutest tiny little Angels for just £2 each!! They were all different colours but the ones that caught my eye were the tigery/stripey ones.
However...in my current stocking I have a male betta. The guy in the shop said they would be fine, maybe a little nipping from the Angel as it got bigger, which would be far in the future.
But I dont know wether to risk it? I have a 70 Litre so its not the biggest tank in the world and dont want to make things hectic or unbalanced in there as everyone is getting on fine at the moment. Other than a little flaring from my betta towards my guppy.

A big part of me just says wait until the inevitable happens to the betta and then replace him with an Angel instead of another betta as I did last time, but just wanted to hear your thoughts.

Personally, I wouldn't put a betta in a community tank, especially not with guppies. Angels are cichlids and therefore territorial - I don't think a 70litre is big enough really (you didn't mention your full stock but am presuming you have others in there as you said they were all getting along fine at the moment apart from the flaring of your betta to the guppy).

It's not really fair on the fish to put incompatible species together, even if the LFS says it's ok (they nearly always say that) and for them to say that a little fin nipping isn't anything to worry about is a big worry in itself LOL - you really don't want any fin nipping going on at all.

No would be my answer,also a 70 litre is too small for an Angel & betta to co-habitate without aggression.

An angel needs a tank thats at least 18 inches high.

Yeah I wasnt happy when he said that, I dont want my betta getting nipped at all!!

I dont have guppies other than my female in the tank, as she was getting really bullied by my males and I felt sorry for her so gave the males to my brother. She's in there with my other fish and is happy just mixing with everyone.
I think she just gets on my betta's nerves sometimes as she's quite big and gets in his way when he's doing his little dances around the tank =P

I'll stick to what I thought then and just leave it how things are. Don't want to have any aggression, I had enough of that with the male guppies previously.

I don't have conflicts with my betta, he's fine. I was just saying wether there would be conflicts between the angel and betta.

And Shaddex my tank is only 70 litres, so less than half of yours, not enough room for them to get away from each other =\
