I want to establish a real breeding pair amonst my various angels and I need some guidance on how to go about it.

I have 2 mated angles in a 37G cube. They are, sadly, a lesbian couple that takes turns laying eggs almost every week.

I have two other angels in a 55G tank who really hate each other. The middle of the tank reminds me of the korean border. Each angel stays on it's side of the border and flares its fins, taunting the other. Every now and then they will lock lips or otherwise make contact, but it's never been really bad.

So, I suspect I have two girls in the 37G and two boys in the 55G. How would I go about re-associating them? Should I put the two from the 37G into the 55G and let them all work it out? Or should I wait till I have a bigger tank?

Also, should I be concerned about the aggression the two in the 55G have toward each other?

The two in the 55 have obviously formed territories. I would remove those two fish, keep them in a bucket or other container. Rearrange the 55's decorations, this will remove old territories. Put the two from the 37 gallon into the 55. Once they seem to be settling in, add the two original angels. Add as many plants & other decorations as you can, this adds to the hiding places, and helps them figure out smaller territories.

This is best done when you have time to observe them, I do things like this on the weekend. If you notice one aggressive fish keeping the other 3 away, put this fish in the 37. If one fish acts aggressive while letting another fish in or near its territory remove the target of aggression & put it in the 37.

I love using 55's for this, I'll often start with a dozen mature or near mature angels. Often 3 or 4 will seem compatable, staying together towards one end of the tank. I put these in a 29, and keep an eye on them. It isn't too long before a couple start to defend a certain area, I keep them in there & remove the others, or put the pair into a 20 depending on the angel's size and what I have open.
