Sorry i aint been around the past week, been off work for a week, so just chilled and relaxed.

ANYWHO... during this relaxing week, i purchased 3 female and 1 male green lyretail mollies. 2 of the females were EXCEEDINGLY fat, so i placed them both in my birthing tank. 4 days passed and one of them began to present me with fry. So was that big, that after she had finished with the labour, her understand had gone really saggy. I left her in the birthing tank for a day and moved her to my hospital tank. Unfortunately, she passed away last night and i can only assume it was due to the size she was during pregnancy.
I removed the fry the following day into the nursery tank and i counted out 105 ( YES 105!!) fry !! this has to be some kind of record !!

Anyway, i went downt to the girlfriends for the weekend, came home last night to find my other female, who was just as large had also given birth, only 59 this time, but i think she may have eaten some of the fry ( i caught her munching on one of the other females offsrpings whilst she was in there). So she has not been moved to the hospital tank as well for some RnR.

SOOOOOOOOOO, i woke up this morning to find that the female guppy that was in the birthing tank was giving birth!! had to leave for work and leave her too it, but i hope there are some left in there when i get home, as i havent been able to catch a female in time before she has given birth as yet and move her to the birthing tank ( this female has been in there for 2 weeks! wasnt missing the chance this time!)

So, as you can probably guess, its bedlam in my house with all the kids screaming !!

Hi spooks sorry to hear bout your female dying! Can't believe she had 105 fry! How are the platy fry doing that you took? I was wondering would you like the fry's parents as I've decided I dont have enough room for them anymore as I've now gone on to breeding bettas!

I thought I'd give you first refusal!

why helloooooooo there ! yeah, the young plats are doing really well. Moved them from the nursery into my mollie tank now. they are about 3/4 of an inch long now and getting there colors and the wag tail. I would gladly take the 'rents from you if you dont have room for them. just let me know when you want me to collect them and i will pop over. they can go in my new fish house ( once its built! this is gonna be a biggy !!)

I'm glad they are doing well! Are you free at the wkend to come pick them up? I think both females are pretty pregnant as well even though I saw a lone fry the other day which obviously has been eaten but both of the females are still very fat have been since they gave birth to the ones you have so surely they must be due to drop again at some point!

Makes me geen with envy I have saved about five to think they can have that many.
Do they eat while pregnant could i put her them in with babies until they give birth. I just thought they would eat them. Seems your doing 100% fine with yours

i have a completely seperate birthing tank for all my LB's. I like to take a the female mollies out a good few weeks in advance. that way they dont get stressed by the advances of the males. I had 2 female lyretail mollies and a female guppy all in the one tank. but i moved the other lyretail and guppy out whilst the other lyre was giving birth cause they were chasing ( and the lyre ate one) the fry. when she had finished in labour i moved her to the hospital tank, cleared the fry out to the nursery and placed the lyre and guppy back in the birthing tank. Spotting a pregnant mollie isnt hard to be honest, they look fat, real fat. its not hard really. Guppies are a little more tricky, but look for the gravid spot, and fatness. I am gonna start moving all my female guppies to the birthing tank when they look fattish, then when they have given birth they are going in a tank with NO males so i can begin my selective breeding !
