i have just attached my anubias to a rock using string /

my question is how long dose it take for it to root itself ?

edit...

my tank is a 10 gallon with 1.1 wpg

no co2...

not that high tech huh.... :X

Not too long, but by the time it roots the string should have dissolved, depending what string you have used it could dissolve within 3 weeks-12 weeks.

its fishing string lol i dont thing it will dessolve...

its the only thing i had in hand

lol its definatley not going to dissolve. BUT on the other hand at least you can't see it ;)

Fishing line is fine for plants like riccia but anubias, hmmm, think of it like this, your plant ( if all goes well) will grow and your fishing line wont, the rizome will get bigger and the fishing line tighter.

You would of been better off going for black cotton, it doesn't take long to rot.
You could even go for the plastic coated wire ties, the type amano uses, i keep all the black plastic coated ones that you get rapped around new electrical goods, you know the type, ASDA sell reals of the stuff for a couple of quid.

Look at garden center's, even aqua-essentials sells it.

Yeah, I wouldn't have used fishing line for that reason either. The last thing you want is for it to get so tight that it kills your plant. Sewing thread is better. Cotton thread the best. It might look unsightly, butit is easy to find and cut should it not dissolve fast enough.

As for taking hold, my anubia took about 2 weeks until I could see the roots 'grabbing', and another 2 until I could tell they it was attached.

yea i did think of this

im thats why i wanted to cut the string as soon as it attached itself....

thanks guys for tha help
