hi there!

i started using amquel plus for my betta tanks because i have .25 to .5 ammonia in my tap water. i just kept using regular dechlorinator in my filtered tanks, because i was worried about how the amquel would affect the nitrifying bacteria.

well, i ran out of dechlorinator while doing water changes and had to swith to the amquel for everything...the bottle says that it will not interfere with the biological filtration...any opinions?

1 more quick question... i have the aquarium pharmiceuticals freshwater test kit. the ammonia teset uses sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite...the amquel bottle says not to use tests with Nessler reagents. i have NO IDEA what these thing mean!!!

can anyone tell me if my test kit is okay to use with amquel?
thanks for the help!!

The amquel will make it look like your ammonia is through the roof. That's why it suggests an alternate test kit. How far along is your cycle? If its complete than you should have no worries usng the amquel for a short period of time. If you're looking for a great dechlorinator, try Prime. If your cycle isn't complete it will help speed it along as well.

thanks wuv!
my tanks are all cycled, i was just worried about using this for water changes or if i should use a straight dechlorinator. my tap water has .25 ammonia, so i use this for my betta tanks.

anyone know what type of teset (brand/cemical name) i can use when i ahve used amquel in my tank? :dunno:

I *think* the aquarium pharm test is the one that will work with amquel and other ammonia removers.
