My tank has been l;ooking alittle hazy for a few days so did a test and amonia was 0.25, done 15% water change, now panda cory is looking subdued - can anyone help, I don't want to loose him

your going to need to do more bigger water changes until it goes down as i think cories don't particualry like ammonia

:good:

Carry on with the water changes, yes panda corys are very sensitive to water quality.

Thanks, done 10% again today , he perked up last night and is much more active, the amonia is still 0.25 though, will see how it reads tomorrow and carry on with water changes if necessary.

Is the tank still cycling, if so small water changes are best or the cycle will take for ever, good luck.

I'm a real novice, i've read about cycling, I've been told my tank should be mature now after 6 weeks, its the first time i've had water quality probs - how will i know if its still cycling??

Need to look at your nitrite and nitrate readings.

just this minute checked both are 0, ammonia still 0.25 today done another 10% change coz corys were all looking subdued again. also some of the platies are flicking themselves on plants and rocks and 1 fin is not up on her back. hope this helps you to help me!

Another water change, the flicking could be because of the water quality, look for signs of parasites like whitespot.

do you mean another change tomorrow as I've done one today? I've been keeping my eye on all the fish for signs of white spot, I only finished treating about a week ago with protozin and they all seemed fine - this flicking has only started again since the water quality deteriorated. Thanks for your help.

Ok, good luck.
