ive been doing a fish in cycle and every time i refill my tank after cycles my fish start to flicker
but when i drop the water level below 50% it stops and my fish become normal again (for an ammonia filled tank)

please help

after cycles? what does that mean?
how long have you been "fishin cycling"?
and if your emptying -refilling the tank, then you are loosing all the bacteria, and starting over each time, and in which case it wont be ammonia filled,( of course if you are emptying it frequently it wont be)
can you give us the date you started, your routine where water changes are concerned and also a present test reading?
what fish are you using to cyle with?
lots of friendly advice to be had here, just need a little more info from you :)

Yeah, we need a bit more information. How long has this tank been set up and what are the current readings of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? You shouldn't be cleaning the filter at all, just changing the water, but big water changes should not be hurting the fish, they should be improving things. Are you using dechlorinator in the new water? Which fish are you cycling with?

4ft tank
80 internal filter
2 air stones
3 plants (1 plastic)
broken ship ornament
200watt heater
some rock
12 cichlids
1 red tail shark

The Autotrophic bacteria we have that process Ammonia and Nitrite do not live in the water, 99% of them live in the filter, while the rest live on the substrate and decor.

So, by doing water changes you are not removing any good bacteria at all.
