ive been following what previous topics say about diluting ammonia. But just read something conflicting about using Ammo-lock. I believed that it would help the problem, but anothe rpost said this could be stopping the cycle. (my tank wasnt cycled as i was another silly person who took up fish keeping without knowing apparently even the basics).

My ammonia is still really high, and ive been using ammo-lock (which i believe still reads on tests as present, even if its made it non-toxic)
So i guess my question is about this ammo-lock stuff.
Opinions on?

What ammo lock does is converts ammonia to ammonium this is less toxic to fish but can still be used by your bacteria so won't stop your cycle happening (weather the intake is slower or anything like that i don't know)

most test kits will register ammonium as well as ammonia so you'll still get a reading for it, but it probably won't be very accurate.

it's certainly 'safe' to use while cycling to reduce the toxicity of ammonia
