just got my tank set up and now want to start cycling my tank but i cant find the stuff anywere. no where sells it they say they arent allowed to stock due to it being acidic.

is there anything i can use as a subsitute?

ammonia is available at chemists as far as i know. For a substitute add a few flakes of food everyday and that food will get the cycle going.

Are you in the UK? I believe pure ammonia is available from places like B&Q or Homebase. You can use flake food as a substitute but its not as easy to control.

Edit*Beat me to it RSands

i have been too my lfs superdrug boots homebase b&q market stalls wilkinson allllllllllllllllllllllllllll over i cant get it anywere

Arrrgggghhhh
Beat me again! I was looking for it using this wonderful thing called 'google' I don't know if anybody has heard of it? Anyways, as you beat me I'll concede. The only thing to add is to make sure its pure ammonia or clear ammonia and doesn't foam when you shake it.

:good:

Just FYI, madness, it will help if you put at least your country in your profile so people know where you are. If you ever have questions about medications or other things, people need to know where you are as some products that are available in the state aren't available in the UK and visa versa.
