I just checked my water levels today (Friday is when I do my weekly water change) only to see this

07/12/12

Ammonia NH3/NH4 0.50ppm
Nitrite NO2 0.00ppm
Nitrate NO3 10-20ppm

Ammonia was a pretty good green, not the yellowish colour it used to be.

Also Nitrate has gone up by a good 10 PPM since I last checked it.

Could any of this effect it, Plants or driftwood? Maybe a dead fish somewhere in my tank? There's a lot of hiding places today and I swear am missing a cory, I'll take apart my tank today when I do my change and have a look.

It might be the missing Cory, I had that happen when 2 of mine went missing, found them under a rock type cave thing.

A dead fish in your tank would almost definitely affect it. Plants maybe if you had one that was dying.

I probably don't need to tell you this, but a big water change is also in order.

No problem, Found a dead cory

but thats a 50% wc and such done.

Well, at least know you know roughly why the ammonia and nitrate have spiked up now. It is good that you found the cory now before it has a chance to affect other fish or other fish to peck at it.

Sorry for your loss techen!
