hi as some of you may be aware i think my tank is still cycling its in its 5th week now and slowly but surely after 3 readings my ammonia levels are comming down now the readings are as follows

ammonia=0.1 last 2 readings 1.2 and 0.8
nitrite =1.5 last 2 readings 1.5 and 1.5
nitrate =25 mgl
ph = approx 7.6ish (ive a crap water testing kit and readings chart)

ok what id like to know is how can i lower the nitrite levels? do i continue doing water changes every day as i have been the last 4 days but the nitrite levels are not reducing any info on this would help thanks joe ;)

yeah, changing the water is about all you can do... I assume this is a tank WITH fish in it? if so, keep up with ~25% water changes daily. part of the reason your levels are not coming down is that as the ammonia eating bacterial colonies grow, they create MORE nitrite. it can be tough to stay ahead of so keep doing water changes and if you dont have one, drop an airstone in there because fish with nitrite poisoning have difficulty absorbing O2
