Ammonia Nitrate Removers - Any Good ?

i see there are some produces for removing ammonia nitrate and nitrite are any of them any good.
there are even some that claim this stops the need for regular water changes.
any one tried these or have any thoughts.
 
Good at prolonging simple tasks and turning them into disasters, yes.

Seriously, you can't cheat with this stuff, the only way to do it is to cycle your tank and do weekly water changes.
 
They can be made to work, but it's hard to make work without loosing fish every time they saturate while spending less than you would on water changes using the most expensive dechlorinator on the market, and/or hiring someone to maintain the tank for you...
 
Just do water changes -- large ones and often, even if you have an emergency.

Just so long as you match the temperature, pH, and hardness of the new water with the old, you won't do any harm. If the water source is the same between the new and old, then the pH and hardness should be close enough and all you have to do is match the temperature. When the parameters match, you can do as large a change as you want.
