three days ago I moved one of my boeseami females into my hostipal tank to treat her for a bacterial problem. The tank had large female swordtail in there who is just getting over a sickness. I was planning on adding filter from my 55 gal tank to the hospital tank , but I waited until the next day. I had a small ammonia reading of .75 ppm when I first added the media. I've done a water change and added a ammonia remover(i don't think it works :grr: ) .it's been 2 days and I still have a reading of .5 ppm.

Now i'm thinking of mabey moving the swordtail to the 55 gal, but she is the messiest fish I have. And i'm afraid that since i took some media out of the filter adding another fish might cause a ammonia spike in this tank.
In the 55 gal there are:
4 Boeseamis
5 rummy nosed tetras
1 german blue ram
1 otto

Any idea on whether i should move her or not?

If the tank has a substrate, then you should not have any problems with ammonia spikes. Benificial bacteria colonize the media and substrate.

Most test kits will read a false positive for ammonia when Ammo Lock or the like is used. They only detoxify the ammonia, not remove it.

I bought some new stuff that removes ammonia. So, I did a water change, got the filter pumping faster, and added the ammonia remover. I tested it 8 hrs later and did get a reading of 0 ppm :) . So lets hope it stays that way -_- .

Thanks for the help
