Levels in my goldfish tank have gone up form 0ppm to 0.50 i did a big water change on friday evening

As i aint 100% sure about Ammonia should i do another change now or is 0.50 acceptable?

What did you use to measure the levels?

IMHO, the API liquid test kit is the most accurate.

Dry strips are notoriously inacurate.

However, I would suggest a 30% change now followed by another 30% change in about 6 hours time.

I'd keep an eye on the levels and test twice daily. Keep changing 30% until the levels drop.

Also I would recommend halving the amount of food you give for the next few days. It won't hurt if you don't feed at all today :good:

I used a API liquid test

Nitrate is also up aswell

Full test

Nitrate 5.0 ppm
Ammonia 0.50 ppm
Nitrite 0.25 ppm
PH 7.6

need stats on size of tank, housemates and filtration. sounds like a mini cycle going on and in a mature tank only really happens when new fish are added overloading the system.
