Hi there....

I have a bottle of Ammo Lock 2 made by Aquarium pharmaceuticals and was wonderinf if i can used this as a water conditioner? It says it removes chlorine and chlorimine but i dont have an ammonia problem in my tank. I'm just wondering because it's just sitting there and id rather use it up than let it go to waste. Thnx for any help!! :)

I don't think there is any problem in using ammo lock as a conditioner. However, if you do have any ammonia in your tank after using ammo lock, if you use the ammonia test that has the yellow to orange readings, you will get a false positive with the ammo lock. If you have the yellow to green test, it will be okay. Also, I didn't know that ammo lock went bad. Why can't you keep it on hand in case you do get an ammonia spike?

I use Bio-wheel filters which eliminate ammonia...I've used them on my tanks for over a year and not once have i had an ammonia problem. Plus even if i did get an ammonia spike i'd rather treat it with water changes and cleaning before i rely on chems. Thnx for the reply Gunnie...im pretty sure it would be ok to use but d rather be safe than sorry.
