is it okay for ammo-carb to be in salt water aquariums? i just saw on drfostersmith that its for freshwater
"Ammo-Chips remove deadly ammonia with a natural zeolite ammonia-removing mineral. For use with freshwater aquariums and ponds."

doesnt say anything for salt water. mines been in my tank for a few days and its crystal clear.

although my 2 columbian sharks are kinda looking rough, they are pretty big 6-7 inches(had em for about a year or so)
the skin are begining to form white dots like burns. one of the sharks tail are looking kinda torn up. i also have a wild mud minnow in the tank and 3 hermit crabs. they been in the tank for over 6 months no prob. just getting kinda worried since ive used the ammo carb. water so clear that it looks like the fish are floating in the room :D

hydrometer: 1.020
temp avg : 74-76F
ph : dont know anymore

-600gph overflow from aquatraders with custom dual micro filter

custom 10g sump:
-with 550gph pump
-aprox 8g of water
-AquaticLife Internal Mini Skimmer 115 (30G)
-ammo carb (in a bag)
-refugierum (nothing but rocks and sand and alota algae)
-lights are on at night and off during the day for sump

I wouldnt use it for salt water, you shouldnt need to. IF the fish are too bigger bio-load for the tank, do what is best for them and find them a new home!

Ammo-carb is just zeolite mixed with pretty rubbish carbon.

Expect the carbon to raise your phosphates a bit, and it will also probably lower the pH.

The zeolite shouldn't be needed. In any established set up, if the tank benefits from zeolite...then there's a problem with the tank bio filtration, and adding the zeolite is only a short therm fix. It will just get bad again.

If you like the water polishing effect the carbon has had, get some decent stuff. I use the Fluval carbon on my marine set up, Seachem stuff is brilliant but too expensive IMO, Rowa carbon is probably great, you could also try that.
