i always kind of knew that i had a male and female angelfish becasue the male was at least twice as big but i never thought they would mate. sure i wished they would but since i had hda them for 6 months and it never happened, i lost hope. Then, last night i was about to turn off their light when i saw little eggs on a amazon sword plant. :hyper: right now, i have a little breeding box that i used with my livebearers a while back so i have tied that to my tank and the plant with the eggs is in it while i am setting up a 6 gallon that hasnt really been used. Is there anything special i need to know. the 6 gallon isnt going to have any gravel, no heater, and a sponge filter. The only bad thing is that my lfs is closed today and tomorrow so the soonest i can get stuff is Wednesday by appointment. i have cyclopeeze for my saltwater fish that i could use for the babies, would that be alright? Thanks for any replies!!! :good:

thanks, yeah they are susceptible to fungus , the only problem is that my lfs is closed mondays and tuesdays so i cant get any fungicide unless i go to this other place which might work

oooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkk   i guess nobody knows anything about angelfish eggs. the eggs have just gotten fungus but luckily my idiot brother had some which he didnt tell me about before. still need answers to my questions if anybody knows them :good:

i think they are white, does this mean they wont hatch?!?!?!?!?!

Bright white means they won't hatch, cream or tan are fertile eggs.

i dont think they are bright white. if they were hatched sometime Sunday, should i expect babies tomorrow? If they dont hatch by Thursday then i suppose they are infertile. it is hard right now for me to tell because i added some funguus cure which made the water all green. also, what should their first food be? thanks Tolak :good:

If they were spawned on Sunday you should have swimmers by Friday or Saturday. Baby brine shrimp works best, it's the only think I've found that gives you a high survival rate.

Tolak know's his stuff, and His Birthday is today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BBS works miracles!!!!!!!!!!!!

happy birthday Tolak :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
tomorrow i might be able to get some bbs, would that be good? what about crushed flake?

frozen would probably be easier for me anyway :good: can i use cyclopeeze that is for my saltwater fish or no? i have kind of lost hope now. almost all fo the eggs seem to have fungus. i think that next time i might leave the eggs in the 35 gallon tank with the pair of angels neon tetras and 2 bn's. would this be okay or should i just pull the eggs again. Also, for my 6 gallon, right now there is no substrate no heater and no filter. there is only the eggs and an air stone sending out oxygen. is this okay or no?

I've hatched angels in everything from 2.5 gallons to 10 gallons, the 6 gallon should work well. An airstone is fine until they are swimmers, you need a sponge filter after that. You do want the hatching & growout tanks at about 80F, if you don't have a heater a warmer spot in the house will do. An old time trick for smaller tanks & bbs hatching is on top of the refrigerator. The fridge produces heat, which rises, keeping the tank or hatchery warm enough.

The fry need the movement of live food at first, this triggers the feeding instinct. After the first week or two finely ground flake can be introduced. A cheap coffee grinder works well for this.
