Ambulia

I have had ambulia before and it always died after pruning then took ages to come back. Now I have it again and its a beautiful looking plants that I DON'T want to die. When I pruine to I just chop the top off or do I have to take it out of the gravel, chop the bottom off that way then replant it allowing new roots to form....

HELP???

I just chop the top off, wrap some lead around the bottom of the chopped off bit, cut off the bottom leaves and re plant it, the plant should send out roots from where the leaves have been chopped off.
