After creating a nice substrate for my planted tank with gravel and laterite I now have sword plants with leaces upto 30cm long!!!! So it is time for some of my sword plants to go....most likely selling them on EBay since they are in spectacular condition and I could prolly get quite a bit for them

So I have 4 swords at the moment....and I want one, for now, possibly later leaving me with none. So obviously this is going to reduce the amount of nutrients my tank needs....BUT...is this true since sword are heavy root feeders? Is it simply a matter of adjusting my E.I. or will the removal of the swords make no difference?

I have ordered some lilaeopsis and water sprite which should be here tomorrow. I know water sprite is a great nutrient eater. Is lilaeopsis though?

Any opnions would be appreciated

The removal of the swords will make a difference, how much, i dont know.

The addition of the water sprite and lilaeopsis will help to counter balance it, so its just really a matter of doing more tests and adjusting the dosing.

The lilaeopsis is very slow growing and wont make much of a dent in your nutrient uptake, try and spend a lot of time planting individual strands of the grass rather than as clumps this way it will grow much faster. I have a variation of this in my tank and it looks pretty cool when it gets going but i found it very slow to take off.
