Love love LOVE sword plants.
Ones we've kept so far have only been in a plant substrate w/ minimal liquid ferts added & maybe 1wpg or less and they're all doing just fine.
With the ones we have, they seem to really benefit from adding potassium. Usually will see new leaves the next day.

Thats an interesting observation with extra potassium. One i have thought of but never tested as i havent kept them lol.
The majority of the time people post pics of echinodrous sp. with burnt pinholes on them (potassium defficency).

It seems as though it responds in a similar way to anubias, when adding extra trace elements that also produces reguar leaves.
