Hey all,

When I first set up my 10g tank a couple weeks ago, my swords started to grow a lot. They grew, and grew some more, and then some more. They have since started to wilt, but ever so slowly. Some leaves are also starting to turn kinda brownish.

I only have two 10w fluorescent bulbs, each being about 4" long. Soooo 20w altogether, that's about 2WPG? Do I need a CO2 system or what?

Please, someone help me out with my swords before it's too late!!

Jordan

PS - The bulbs kinda look like this:

I doubt it is a lighting problem, ours does fine in 1.7 WPG with liquid ferts.

Those look like normal room light bulbs, which would suggest that they may be completely the wrong part of the spectrum for plant growth.

Swords tend to be heavy root feeders, so some root fert tabs may help, but personally I think this is most likely a lighting problem.

Do you mean they look something like this?

If its not, then @ombom is right, they'll be pretty rubbish for growing plants. Suggest you get a new lighting setup, should only be around $30-50. Just make sure you get one designed for aquariums ;)
