I am in the process of changing around my tank at the moment. I pulled an amazon sword out of the sand and to my shock, the roots spanned the whole length of the tank (80cm).I had no idea roots could grow that long :hyper:

 That poor sword was snuggled in deep! lol I'll keep that in my for my upcoming rescape...I have a ton of swords to move.

Its good to keep roots of amazon swords trimmed, as they can grow in-between the silicon and the glass. They are really tough things.

these roots roots are made for anchoring in the wet seasons in the amazon. Swords normally propagate at the edge of rivers and streams, the the wet season comes and normally the rains flood from the hills, these root systems help stop the swords from getting washed away.
