hi i have a question about my amazon sword, my tank is 35cm high and the amazon sword doesnt have any lower leaves becasue they had holes in and had to cut them off and now the leaves grow out of the tank and touch the light, is it because my tanks too short for it

is there anything i can do to make lower leaves grow and not really tall ones.

thanks
Jodie

If it's E. bleheri it'll try to grow out of that tank by about 50 cm. :)

If it's E. amazonicus, the one that's usually sold by the name Amazon sword, you may be able to make it stay lower by adding more light. Still, even the submerged leaves of this plant can reach 50 cm, so I reckon the plant is just plain too big for your tank. It does look cool if you let it grow out of the water though, but you'd need to lift your lights higher somehow.
