Amazon Sword Plant?

I went to my lfs, buying two female swordtails when I noticed some plants. Four dollars each, so I took one. (just one, incase something bad happens.)

now this is my first time having a plant. I know that this plant can get up to 20", from my research. It says fertilizer. Aquarium fertilizer? How does that work.
Whatre the basics to plants? I know their needs, just wanna know how to keep them properly.

also, I dont know if theres a section for plants, so i'm posting here. I understand if you move this post, though. (any mod. )

Swords are pretty easy to grow. You probably don't need any ferts as they will probably get enough from the water and waste.
