Amazon Sword Plant Question

I've had this plant for a few weeks. I purchased it from Petco on a whim. I have the Aqueon Aquarium LED Light Fixture from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Aqueon-Aquarium-Light-Fixture-24-Inch/dp/B009P63UPM?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
A lot of reviews said this was wonderful for plant growth. Had my IVIG today so kinda tired and ready for bed already. lol. How long should the lights be left on? Usually I leave them for 7-9 hours then turn on the blue night LED then off for the night.

The problem with so many LED light fixtures is the lack of sufficient red light.  Red and blue wavelengths drive photosynthesis in aquatic plants, and red is the more critical.  Most of the basic LED seem to be white and blue.  I've tried a couple (not this particular one) and took them back.  Getting decent LED light for planted tanks is usually expensive.  But I hope anyone with more experience can help out.

Duratio sounds fine; I like to aim for around 8 hours of "daylight" type light, and 8+ hours (depends a bit upon the season with ambient daylight in the room) of total complete darkness.  Both these are essential for fish and plants, though the fish obviously don't need such bright lighting.

Aside from the above, the plant may recover once it is settled.  Keep an eye on the new leaves which emerge from the centre of the crown.  The older outer leaves will not recover or improve, ever, but it is the new growth that shows what the plant is doing.  The tabs and liquid fertilizer may well be sufficient to get this sword growing well again.

Byron.

I placed a RED LED light in one of the 3 LED fixtures I have. It did make the tank seem dimmer and I see my driftwood is leaching brown color again to my tank. Can't seem to get that log brown tank free. lol...But the Plant is still living just trimmed the brownish parts of the leaves off plus just clipped the clear ones off. Its ultra tiny now. Lol. But hoping it comes back to life soon. Tomorrow I get the liquid. Cheaper at Amazon of coarse. Hoping this grows back. Thanks for the help everyone!

If the brown water bugs you, add some activated carbon to your filter, it will remove the tannins.
