We got a big shipment of SW fish in at my lfs tonight. I stayed late to help the owner unload 'em all. We got some cool fish in (a Marine Betta, a Goatfish, and lots of other cool ones)! I'm amazed at what those fish can survive. There was some kind of delay at the airport, so by the time the fish got to our fish store, they'd been bagged for close to 40 hours! And they were all still alive! Some of 'em didn't look to great (boss said they were adjusting to different altitudes and were in pH shock), but after we acclimated them a bit and finally let 'em go, at least half of them had perked up some. My boss said that by tomorrow most all of them will have adjusted and will be acting normal. My co-worker and I were continually amazed that those fish were even alive, and some even doing pretty well, after all they'd been through

Lucky fish... 40 hours is a long time to be stuck in several gallons of unaraeted water...

Glad to hear they pulled through.

Several gallons? They'd be lucky. In a bag you would probably have no more than quarter of a litre of water, maybe half a litre in a bigger bag.

Remember, when transporting fish, oxygen is more important than water...
