I was wondering if anyone could shed any light onto why my two Amano Shrimps may have died so soon. My tank is well cycled and I added them yesterday. They seemed fine at first but soon the smaller of the two starting floating around upside down and then getting energy and then losing it again. this morning I found that one has been virtually eaten while the other one is dead and has now been removed. All the other fish seem healthy enough, feeding and playing as usual. Thankyou in advance. :)

As you saw that behaviour (upside down etc) it wasn’t the other fish but as Kathy suggests 3 spot Gouramis are pretty big and might have caused the shrimp problems had they lived. Assuming no ammonia or nitrate, (they are less tolerant of it than fish) it may be that they didn’t have time to adapt to the difference in water from the LFS. They need to be acclimated more slowly than fish, I drip water into the bag for up to four hours for shrimp, even then they can be jumping around in a way that shows they are not happy. The only other thing I know of with shrimp is small amounts of copper in the water, which have no affect on fish will be enough to kill shrimp. I have blue rams with amanos with no problems.
