Hi guys, I was reading in my PFK something about being able to intergrate Amano shrimp into your Mbuna tanks. Is this true? cos I have gren rocks now which they could help with and I have to move it soon so could get them in then before putting the fish back in so I'm not just dropping them in an the fish just think it's food.

Yeah, I was thinking on getting a lt of them, 10 at least but it seems to me tha they will just get eaten. Just PFK said it can be done so was wondering if anyon had any experiances?

Wouldn't be super good for them to eat either. High in protein isn't that wonderful for mbuna.

 another shinning example of a magazine trying to give out advice.

shrimp=food no way around it ESPECIALLY w/ africans ! (any cichlid for that matter)
the amount of protien given in one shot wouldnt bloat the mbuna though. it takes a lot more to bloat out mbuna then many think.

I have to agree with everyone else, shrimp are just too slow and docile to stand against mbuna.

I throw excess malaysian trumpet snails in my mbuna tank on occasion for a snack and they rip the little snails out of their shells in seconds, I can't see how shrimp would stand a chance.

do you weird mine dont seem to touch them

Mine love them, especially the labs. It's funny, I drop them in and they all come flying, and those poor little snails are dead before they know it.
