I was at two Wal*Marts today, looking for something for my sister for her birthday that she saw she liked. the first was what most people thought of Wal*Mart fish, all icky and the poor bettas in little teeny cramed unclean disgusting cups (my new boy came home from here. he was in water so dark blue and gross you couldnt see what he looked like...it was the worst one there) but the second one...WOW. it was amazing! the tanks were sparkling clean, the bettas only had a little gunk in the bottom (remember, its a wal*mart  i consider this good for around here). The had about ten female bettas in a normal sized tank and they were rather small but the one....i wanted to bring her home so bad. she was less than an inch long and so cute  she was smaller than my cade...and i thought cadence was small. there were only a few minor nips...probably from when they were first introduced? they were swimming together and not nipping at all.

and then their cichlid tanks! they all had lots of wood in them (the fake wood with the plants attached) and they looked happy. it was amazing! they had a 90 day guarentee on their fish and on one of the tanks was a fish-rescue business card. i think the webside was www.monsterfishrescue.com.

i just had to praise this wal*mart. it was fantastic for around here :good:

in a way i wish there was walmarts in the uk.You cant get crowntails or anything round here just the same old vt's.

around here people say "dont buy wal*mart fish, they'll die in two days". i've only gotten two fish there in my entire life. aladdin who had no tail and was more than likely destined to die in his cup because of that and now my new boy because he looked gorgeous and his cup was filthy. they don't take good care of their fish (usually). this was the first decent one i've seen. i was basically in shock. i've never seen ANY store have a three month guarentee on fish.

Asda is owned by Wal Mart - they just haven't gone down the having pets line - yet. Personally I hope they don't, as they have trouble keeping the shelves full never mind keeping a pet corner clean.

I can't understand why a business (other than space) would sell fish in such small "tanks", surely it would benefit them more to have them in bigger ones to tempt people to buy the bigger tanks.
