Hi everyone. i was just wondering if anyone else has more then one planted tank.

personally (as most of you know) i have 3. a 12G, 40G and 50G.

all using EI with fast growth rates needing weekly pruning and 50% water change.

i must say it's a bit of an effort i'd kill for a 200G to replace the 3 the maintenance would be much easier with only one big tank to deal with.

oh i just remembered hondour has 2 planted tanks, i feel for you mate!!

anyone else in the multipul planted tank boat!!

I'm soon to jump on the nano-planted train. So technically not yet, but in my mind, I already have!

Don't feel for me! I do _nothing_ to my 5 gallon. It's just growing all on its own accord. :)

So, yeah at the mo its just you! have fun!

Uhm well seeing as technically speaking I don't even have one (proper) one yet, I probably can't speak.
But I'm vaguely thinking of turning my Juwel Vision 180 into one as well. At the moment it just has 2 huge Amazon swords - and at that not particularly "stunning" due to low light levels.
But I've started by buying some light switches for extra tubes and might introduce my two old DIY CO2 hagen unit (not enough I know, but better than nothing ?).
But until I have my 19 Gallon up and running properly, I won't seriously consider my 180 (yet! ;) )

Yes, I would definitely love to have a few tanks. That way I dont have to keep throwing away the extra plants I get every couple of weeks !!! But, I'm still making do with one planted tank at the moment :(

I'm soon to have one very heavily planted tank, and one moderately planted. I will dose EI on both, but both are only 15s so it's not so bad. Then again, that probably means more pruning -_- ah well. My tank at the moment is moderately planted, and I cannot wait to re-do it. I've also been drawing up plans to start a 10g saltwater nano but not until my others are established, and I've done a lot more research!

I have two planted tanks. A 10g divided betta tank, and the 15g that has a journal here. The 10g is lower maintenance and I don't concern myself with aquascaping, because I only have 3.3 gallon sections to work with. I use it to propigate plants for the 15g. I also don't deal with riccia or glosso, since I don't have the time, but I would love to deal with them in the future.

I do weekly 25-33% water changes and prune weekly, especially the elodea and the hygro, so I feel your pain Jimbooo. But it is a grand thing to create something pretty and pleasing out of nothing. It makes me feel good when others compliment my tank (hint, hint, check out my thread :-(, shameless plug, back to the post). I enjoy watching my fish thrive and I like looking at the contrasting leaf patterns.

It reminds me of a terrestrial garden, which I also enjoy doing. I've been assigned the task of redoing the rose garden back in FL, since it was ravaged by 3 hurricanes. My fingers tremble in anticipation of working with manure!

All 7 of mine are planted, some heavily, others just a few species.

I have:
1 40 g
1 25 g
1 20 g
1 15 g
2 10 g
1 5 g

Actually I have 8 tanks, but the 8th is a 5 g with wild minnows housed in it and some pennywort floating on the top. :/

It is a lot of work keeping up with each tank, but a little work each day is easier than a few hours once a week.

I personally have 2, my main 55 Gal, and a 45 Gal (mistakenly listed as a 55). My 14 yo daughter has her 29- it is hers, but I am the one who takes care of it, and my son has a 20 gal, not yet fully planted, but heading that way. Now that I have fast growing plants in my main 55, I will need the others to spread the excess. So far I like the overgrown look so long as the plants don't block too much light.

I have a system rigged up for doint water changes that has helped tremendously. I took the spout off of the bathtub (who needs a bath any way when I have a shower?) and I have a 5/8 inch tubing that I clamp to the tank to siphon to the tub, then hook the end of the tube to the tub outlet and fill er up. It is great because I can control the temp of the water. It only takes me about an hour or so to do water changes on 7 tanks.

thank god for that, theres someone worse off than me.... respect mate, thats a massive workload to keep under control. on average i spend an hour a night fiddling/doing EI and 4 hours (at least) on the weekend doing water changes and pruning.

EI is quick and easy if you have one tank but with 3 thats 3 water tests, 3 additions of nitrAte, 3 of phosphate, 3 of trace blah blah blah. it seems like i spend my whole life doing something or other with the tanks.

sorry in a rush so cant comment on all the replies but needless to say thanks for your comments and i'm glad i'm not alone.

bloozoo2: go for it with the vision 180. my rio 180 only has 2 nutrafins on it, more than enough to get 30ppm CO2 if you change the mix every weekend. if you decide to do it and need any help you know where i am.

I have now 3 planted ones, a 85 gallon, 47 gallons and one 63 gallon. Today I picked up another 63 gallon tank, I'm getting out of control :)
Currently i'm building diy Co2-systems for my other tanks, the biggest one already has it.

Know where ya coming from here, i have 2 tanks a 60L and a 120L. The Mrs said i spend more time on the tanks than her :D Mind the bristle nose is better looking .(looks around quick to see if shes looking )
