About 5 days ago I set up a 36 bowfront...but I have noticed an occasional noise coming from it, kind of a popping/knocking kind of sound. I notice the sound maybe a few times an hour. The stand is sturdy, and seemingly level, the water is even on all sides, I see no cracks or bad seals,, but it's making me crazy! Anyone have any ideas?

Do you happen to have any clown loaches, they make a knocking sound when eating.  If it were the stand, the only time you would hear sound is when you fill it up with water and taking water out. This might be due to the boards not being squared or flush.  Does the stand have supports on all four sides?  It's always good to have another center one in the back.

The stand has 4 sides, and a center piece inside the cabinet that separates the two sides. The sound seems to be coming from one side of the tank, the side with the heater, though I can't be certain, I don't have clown loaches, so that rules that out.

My wall in my bedroom pops or cracks..... lol.
Not related to tanks at all................

Maybe its the heater from heating and cooling?

What aeration do you have ?
It's not bubbles or air building up in a corner or somewhere else and then 'popping' as it releases itself

With one of my tanks, it's the air pump. With the other tank, it's the heater that makes a clicking noise every so often or if the water level gets too low for the filter to suck water into it.

Some fish also makes noises. Croaking gourami?

It will be the heater, some do make a popping noise as they are heating up, if the noise is intermittent then it is going to be the heater. When you hear the noise see if the light indicator is on if you have one on the heater. I have a noisy heater at the moment.

Many heater make a noise , when switching on or off. Is it a single knock/pop?

It is a single sound yes.

And most of the time when I hear it and looks, the light on the heater is on.

I'm starting tothink that's the culprit.

It's likely to be the heater... Mine clicks when it comes on and clicks when it goes off
